Strategic Objectives:
- Targeted member recruitment
- Identify all Federal agencies relevant to the Committee mission and solicit active participation of at least one representative in the Task Force
- Identify other constituencies and solicit participation
- Identify issues, research needs, and outreach efforts around the five focus areas of transit and alternate modes, gateway communities, planning, institutional issues, and tourism and recreation travel.
- Establish target for participation goals for TRB Annual meeting, e.g. Task Force sponsored session(s), attendance at Task Force meeting, etc.
- Establish Task Force as a clearinghouse for Federal lands transportation research related to the mission
Activities:
- Develop and maintain a full committee roster and develop and maintain an active Friends of the Committee list.
- Establish and staff sub-committees around the following activities:
- Annual Meeting Program Subcommittee
- Mid-Year Meeting Subcommittee
- Research Subcommittee
- Outreach and Clearinghouse Subcommittee
The specific activities of these subcommittees are defined under the appropriate goals and strategic objectives.
- Annual Meeting Subcommittee. The Task Force will solicit possible papers through a "Call for Papers" to be issued in February - March of each year and through one-on-one communication with interested individuals. The goal of the Task Force is to organize one paper session and to coordinate at least one joint presentation session with another committee and a poster session at each TRB Annual meeting. The Call for Papers will focus on specific topics of current interest to the Task Force's constituents.
